When mommy is sick

I was sick over the Hari Raya holiday. It started with bad sore throat on Saturday. I was thinking what to have for dinner, and then hb told me that, he had promised the gal to buy pizza for dinner! I was very reluctant to eat pizza actually, as it most probably will make my sore throat worse. Approaching dinner time, the gal kept on asking me, "Mama, papa said buy pizza." Sigh. Since hb already promised the gal, so I went ahead to order pizza. And it was a wrong decision! I was regretted after that. I should have explained to her that mama could not take pizza. :(

As expected, I woke up with very bad sore throat the next day. Plus some coughs. And stuffy nose. Lynn asked for gai gai. I told her mommy is sick, cannot go gai gai. Ha, guess what she answered me "Then mommy stay at home. Lynn and Papa and Didi go gai gai."

I took an MC on Monday. Lynn knew I was sick and did not go to work. I actually wanted to go back to work the next day. Somehow when I woke up in the morning, I had a very bad blocking nose, until I could hardly breathe! Had a bad experience on this before, I nearly suffocated in the office as the air-conditioner will just make the blocking nose worse. So I took another day off. At night when the kids came home, Lynn told me "Mommy, tomorrow you no more sick you go to work ok?"

I still had some blocking nose when I woke up the next day, but not as bad. At least I don't feel much difficulty in breathing. So I went to work. She's so happy. "Yay, mommy is going to work today!" And I came home with dry throat and coughing non-stop. And on that night, I lost my voice. :(

Yesterday was holiday. Good for me don't have to go to work. As the air conditioner environment always made me worse. However the two demanding kids would not stop come near me, wanted to sit on my laps etc. Worrying that I may pass the virus to them, I had to ask them to go away. And despite mommy is sick, both kids finished our breakfast (I bought 4 cream breads, for each of us. But both kids ate all 4 of them.) Despite me having sore throat, coughing and no voice to talk, they made me blood boil and yelled at them! Because they made the Ballet dance DVD which my parents bought in Paris, full of finger prints and some scratches! They know that they are forbidden to touch that DVD! I hope the DVD still working fine, if not I will cry! At night, I told Lynn no reading tonight, as mommy has no voice; don't want to talk so much. "Mommy, you get well tomorrow, and then read book for us, ok?"

Hope you will be better this weekend.

Good also la that your hubi bring them out for gai-gai. At least give you time to rest at home. Stuffy nose best medicine is sleep. Let the doctor's medisine do their work when you are sleeping

hope you are getting better… sore throat is not a lot of fun its just uncomfortable and difficult to swallow.

usually, i would take the Nim Jiom Cough Syrup (www.geocities.jp/ninjiom_hong_kong/index_e.htm ) which has a thick consistency formulation. it coats the throat and includes herbs that are particularly good for that application.

i hope it works on you as well.

Olive - Luckily the DVD still work! But I still feel bad because it is not mine. Just borrow from my parents for the kids to watch. :(

smallkucing - Hb won't want to take both kids out alone with him, unless going back to parents house.

Jane - Thanks for your comments. Yes I'm taking the Nim Jiom Cough Syrup, but other brand. It think it works, just need slightly longer time. Can't expect it is like magic potion, that I can recover immediately right after taking it. Hehe. Btw, do you have a blog too? Can't view your blogger profile. :)

mNhL - 100plus can help sore throat? Not aware about that. I was taking warm honey and with some lemon. It helps a lot. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you are sick, get well soon! Next time you could probably try to gargle with listerine and take a few spoonful of honey if you have sorethroat, it works on me specially the initial of the symptoms!:)

Take care and rest well!

Hope you have recovered by now. Yes, i understand of being sick and at the same time have to layan the kids as well, been thru that too. Talking about scratching DVDs, my Juan Or is also like that too. So far he hs already spoiled one DVD already becos of too many accumulated scratches. No choice have to keep an eye on him, otherwise there will be more damages.

Hi Chee Yee, regret to read you not feeling good, your mom too.

I don't know if you've heard of this Chinese Herbal drink, made in Ipoh, Perak, called, 'Hor Yan Hor'.
It's cheap for several packets.
Go buy couple of boxes, drink two, hot! One evening, one morning....
Give your mom too, and I assure you you'll feel normal soon....

Even my Malay friends I told them have tried it and now keep them at home.
Good for fever, colds, flu, you name it....
Try if never tried before.
Get well soon, Lee.

Cleffairy - Was staying at home during raya time....

Alice Law - OK will remember to try your method next time. :)

Alice Phua - Lynn can operate the DVD player... not easy to keep an eye on her as not all the time I watch the DVD together with her. Only for first few times.

vialentino - Glad to hear that baby Dylan is recovering. :)

Uncle Lee - Only me is sick not my mom. The "mommy" here is just referring to me. :) Heard about Ho Yan Hor but seldom drink it. Will try next time. Thanks for the tips. :)
